The first Test of the two-match series between India and New Zealand have started in Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on November 25, 2021. Team India won the toss and chose to bat under the stand-in captain Ajinkya Rahane.

Although Mayank Agarwal couldn’t stay long, Shubman Gill and Rahane studied the ship before Cheteshwar Pujara and Rahane played for a bit in the middle. However, the debutant Shreyas Iyer stole the show with a fine knock of 75*. Alongside him, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also scored 50*. They remained unbeaten as India ended day one on 258/4.

However, apart from the game, another incident made headlines as a couple of videos of the match went viral where it can be heard that the crowd at the Green Park chanted “Jeetega bhai Jeetega, India jeetega” and “Pakistan Murdabad” as well. Even, the fans were heard chanting “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram” also.

However, Pakistan fans also reacted on that.

However, after the game, Kyle Jamieson spoke to the broadcasters and said: “Hardly played the last couple of months. Was nice to find some rhythm. Probably too good at times, hence the overstepping. Hopefully the new ball swings a bit in the morning and we can take a few wickets. India is probably a fraction ahead, but we did well to have them four down.”
