Australia XI: Khawaja, Finch, Warner, Smith, S Marsh, Stoinis, Carey, Coulter-Nile, Behrendorff, Zampa, Lyon, K Richardson.

  3. Post update

Australia are resting Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Glenn Maxwell.

They are playing 12 players today. Full rules of who can bat and who can take to the field to follow.

Steve Smith and David Warner DO play. This should be fun.

  4. BreakingEngland win the toss and bowl

Stand-in England captain Jos Buttler has won the toss.

    England choose to bowl first.

  5. Team news

    We have the England team.

Captain Eoin Morgan is out with his fractured finger. Joe Root, Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid have been rested.

England XI: Roy, Bairstow, Vince, Stokes, Buttler, Moeen, Dawson, Woakes, T Curran, Plunkett, Wood.

  6. Post update

Today is not an official ODI.

The runs and wickets don’t count towards ODI career records.

Teams don’t have to play just 11 players, they can swap on and off, but we’re expecting England to stick to 11 – mostly because of injury issues.

  7. Post update

We could also see these two up against England for the first time since their ball-tampering bans today.

I wonder how the Southampton crowd will treat them…

  8. Post update

It’s just five sleeps to go until the start of the 2019 World Cup.

Today favourites England play their first warm-up game and it’s against their fiercest rivals of all.

Australia are in town. 12 months ago they were unfancied, soon to be thrashed 5-0 by England, but after a good run of form they’re certainly one of the contenders.

This is a chance for both to lay down a marker.
